Mr Yao Cho Fai, Andrew, the Chairman & CEO of Van Shung Chong Holdings Limited has been awarded the Young Industrialist Awards of Hongkong 2004. Comments from judging panel were — first-rate leadership skills, contributes time and effort to the local community and a dynamic visionary. The Young Industrialist Award of Hongkong 2004, organized by the Federation of Hong Kong Industries annually, had a strict judging process for selection. The nominee's outstanding personal achievements in his own field, his leadership skills, his commitment to his industry and his contribution to the manufacturing industry and community would be taken into account by the panel when assessing the merits of the nominees. |

Excitement shared with Industrialists and Celebrities
The ceremony was held on the night of October 8, 2004 at JW Marriott Hotel, and was attended by 600 industrialists and celebrities in town, including Mr Peter T S Wong, JP, the Chairman of the Hong Kong Association of Banks and this year's head of judging panel, Professor Tsui Lap Chee, Principal of the University of Hong Kong, Mr. Andrew K Y Leung, SBS, JP, Chairman of Federation of Hong Kong Industries and Legislator. Mr. Yao's nominator, Dr Kenneth Ting Woo Shou, SBS, JP, the Managing Director of Kader Holdings Co. Ltd, was appointed to be the new Chairman of Federation of Hong Kong Industries that night. |

Expand towards China with a foothold in Hong Kong
Mr. Yao was honoured to be named as the Young Industrialist this year. He said, "During our continuous revolution and development, we had been encountering many challenges. As we uphold our belief of "Expand towards China with a foothold in Hong Kong", we successfully enlarged our business to the China market and revolutionized VSC to a China focused industrial steel service provider from a purely Hong Kong based steel trader. We are now playing an important role in global supply-chain management. This honour is set to be an encouragement for me in expanding our company, to China market in the future, and we will continue to contribute to China and Hong Kong." |

Successfully revolutionized into a new era
Mr. Yao joined the family business in 1992. Under his significant leadership, last decade VSC has successfully revolutionized itself from a purely Hong Kong based steel trader to a China focused industrial steel service provider. By putting continuous effort, The Group has grown from 50 people with a turnover of over $500 million to over 1,200 employees with a turnover HK$3.5 billion per annum, with manufacturing operations in Guangdong district, Tianjin, Shanghai and Beijing. |

VSC's business is divided into two groups, CAMP (China Advanced Materials Processing) and Construction Materials Group (CMG), Kobe Steel, Shougang and Baosteel are our partners in coil centre operation. The Group moves further to provide precision metal processing services for fast growth telecommunication and automobile industries. We are proudly to be one of the major suppliers to renowned brands, such as Huawei, Zhongxing, Emerson Electric of the US and ISUZU. |

| Committed in serving the community
Besides, Mr. Yao had sat on the Executive Committee of Hong Kong Housing Society and is the Committee Member of Federation of Hong Kong Industries. He has also contributed extensively to the education sector, serving on the Alumni Boards of Harvard Business School (HBS) in US and as Director to Shanghai's Fudan University.
Mr. Yao is also committed to public services in China and Hong Kong. He serves as a member of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the 10th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, General Committee of China Youth Federation, Vice Chairman of Shanghai Youth Federation, Vice Chairman of Hong Kong United Youth Association, and Founder and Chairman of Young Presidents' Organization (YPO) Shanghai Chapter.
At last, Mr. Yao remarked that the success of VSC was contributed by the support from our business partners, professional bodies and employees. He would like to take this opportunity to express his deepest gratitude to them. |
